Bastion has 3 new REAL i-Series virtual reality headsets for clinical use. This particular model is intended as a complimentary mental health intervention for those with brain injuries, PTSD, or a variety of other diagnoses. The i-series is designed to offer VR-enabled immersive experiences for cognitive activation, distraction therapy, reminiscence therapy, mindfulness therapy, and relaxation therapy.
As an emerging technology, virtual reality (VR), represents a new tool for rehabilitative and restorative purposes. VR can be described as “an advanced form of human-computer interface that allows the user to interact with and become immersed in a computer-generated environment in a naturalistic fashion”. For its flexibility, sense of presence (i.e., the feeling of “being there”) and emotional engagement, VR has been tested in motor and cognitive rehabilitation, with good results.
Bastion is grateful for the support from the Order of Saint Lazarus who funded these headsets. If you are interested in learning more, contact Lovella or Rachel to trial a headset with them.
