With Lovella’s ongoing Wellness Intensive, I thought it important to take some time to address stress from a top-down view, and maybe bring up some points about stress relief.
Everyone gathers stress in one way or another, and we can often feel uncertain in terms of where we get it from, especially when we have many different sources of it in our lives. A key point to remember is that mental health stress can often be collected passively, while relieving that same stress has to be done actively. Here are three quick tips to guide your stress relief:
• Care for others. Help a neighbor out with that gardening project they’ve been putting off, or help a family member move some furniture around. Often when we take care of others, we can feel intrinsically better about ourselves, as it increases our self-worth. Remember these tips and try to stay stress-free!
• Care for your mind. When you’re stressed it can be hard to remember to give yourself grace, but it’s one of the best things we can do for ourselves. Daily affirmations, meditation, engaging with a valued hobby, are all great options to relieve stress. It can feel good to give your brain a break, or something comfortable to focus on.
• Care for your body. There is often a physical sensation that accompanies stress relief. Completing a cleansing diet, making a meal for yourself, or working out can all be very stress relieving. To that end, using your body physically can lead to further validating feelings like motivation and increased self-efficacy.
